The Iron Fey Series

I recently read "The Iron Fey" series by Julie Kagawa because of a friend that told me I would absolutely love the books. Of course, my friend was absolutely correct and this series will go into the hall of fame for me. These books are about a normal girl named Meghan Chase who doesn't get along with her mom, isn't the most popular and of course wants to date the most popular guy in school. After an embarrassing event that happened because of the popular guy at school, her best friend reveals himself as a faery and takes her into the faery world. Her friend, named Puck, informs her that she is the summer faery king's daughter. In the faery world, there is the summer and winter kingdoms, and it just so happens that Meghan is the princess of the summer kingdom. Meghan is required to go and meet the winter court and soon finds herself absolutely entranced by the winter prince. Of course, it's forbidden that anyone from the summer and winter courts should be in love, especially the prince and princess; it doesn't help that this prince is kind of a jerk. An unfortunate, later turned into fortunate, series of events leads the princess, the prince and Puck on an adventure and Meghan sees that the prince isn't as mean as he seems to be. The Prince also seems to find himself extremely attracted to Meghan, even after the loss of his "one true love" which, the loss this girl was mainly because of Puck and the prince has never forgiven Puck for this and vows to kill him. Meghan Chase is sent on a wild adventure with her bestfriend and the guy who she may be falling in love with, and these boys are mortal enemies. Needless to say this series is very addicting and I couldn't put the books down.

The Hunger Games

So I know that everyone is pretty much sick and tired of hearing about the Hunger Games, but I love it so much that I just couldn't bring myself to blog about anything else. I made sure that I read the books before I went and saw the movie. Unlike most people though, I wasn't all that disappointed. I love every character in this series so much and I thought that the movie creators did an excellent job of casting. The book is about a place called Panem. There are 12 districts in Panem and each district is in charge of producing something different. Katniss is from district 12, the coal producing part of Panem. Her father was killed in a mining accident and she automatically became the adult in her family due to her mom practically going insane after her father died. Katniss loves her little sister, Prim, very much. Her district is starving so she must find a different source of food. She hunts with her best friend, Gale. Every year, each district must sacrifice two tributes to participate in a sick game... Known as the Hunger Games. Katniss' little sister was chosen as the female tribute from her district, resulting in Katniss volunteering to take her place. The Hunger Games is basically a big murder show for the rich people from Panem. 24 tributes go into the arena but only one tribute will make it out alive. Katniss is appalled by the games, much like everyone else. The boy tribute from her district, Peeta, is a sweet guy who wants nothing more than for Katniss to win. Not only because she is the most likely to win, but because he is in love with her. Their romance continues throughout the games. I don’t want to reveal to much of the story because I love it so much and I’m glad that no one ruined it for me, so I wouldn’t want to ruin it for anyone else. It’s definitely worth taking the time to read.
