The Hunger Games

So I know that everyone is pretty much sick and tired of hearing about the Hunger Games, but I love it so much that I just couldn't bring myself to blog about anything else. I made sure that I read the books before I went and saw the movie. Unlike most people though, I wasn't all that disappointed. I love every character in this series so much and I thought that the movie creators did an excellent job of casting. The book is about a place called Panem. There are 12 districts in Panem and each district is in charge of producing something different. Katniss is from district 12, the coal producing part of Panem. Her father was killed in a mining accident and she automatically became the adult in her family due to her mom practically going insane after her father died. Katniss loves her little sister, Prim, very much. Her district is starving so she must find a different source of food. She hunts with her best friend, Gale. Every year, each district must sacrifice two tributes to participate in a sick game... Known as the Hunger Games. Katniss' little sister was chosen as the female tribute from her district, resulting in Katniss volunteering to take her place. The Hunger Games is basically a big murder show for the rich people from Panem. 24 tributes go into the arena but only one tribute will make it out alive. Katniss is appalled by the games, much like everyone else. The boy tribute from her district, Peeta, is a sweet guy who wants nothing more than for Katniss to win. Not only because she is the most likely to win, but because he is in love with her. Their romance continues throughout the games. I don’t want to reveal to much of the story because I love it so much and I’m glad that no one ruined it for me, so I wouldn’t want to ruin it for anyone else. It’s definitely worth taking the time to read.

  1. By not knowing much about this series, I want to read it. Now that I've read your summary, I really want to read it! I'm not much of a sci-fi person, but I figure if there's this much hype about the series, it's probably worthwhile. I'm sure the love story throws a twist into things as well!

  2. Okay, I am the 1% of population who has still yet to of read or seen this. I really am going to just buy the book and sit my happy butt down and just watch it so I can no what all the chaos about this is. I went to watch 21 Jump Street the same day this movie was showing and there was a line out the door for this movie. It was crazy! So I guess if this many people like it, I will too!
